The Hoosier Jubilee was a radio show taped in front of a live audience. Originating from the luxurious grand hotel which is the French Lick Resort Casino, the Jubilee was broadcast on a network of radio stations in the region in 2007. We invited you to join us as a member of our audience and enjoy the fun and excitement as the Wright Brothers embarked on this new venture in their long and storied career. Tom and Tim Wright were born and raised in this historic little valley nestled in the rolling hills of Southern Indiana. After a 35-year career of touring the country with their special brand of music and humor, along with their partner, John McDowell, the “brothers” returned to their hometown with an hour long musical/variety show designed to entertain audiences of all ages and tastes in music.
The Hoosier Jubilee featured a variety of music from the Wright Brothers as they selected songs from the many genres they perform so capably. From classic rock and pop to bluegrass and gospel, Western swing and 40's Big Band, “Indiana’s Band” delivered the vocal harmony and instrumental technique that have made them a favorite of fans nationwide.
Along with the “voice” of the show, announcer, Al Stone, there was a cast of characters that was the Lost River Revue bringing laughter and wit to a show you will grew to love. You will hear Mary Lee Maners tell us what’s on the social calendar for the valley, like the “VanderPoot Tea Party.” Dell Hickey, farmer, is company spokesman for “Good Moos Family Farm Supply,” a “sponsor” of the Hoosier Jubilee.
You’ll meet the Gurneys, Cliff and Estelle, who own Gurney’s Diner–“Home of the Gurney Burger.” The fellas who hang out at Bobber’s Semi-Pro Bass and Bait Shop visited the show on occasion, and Tom Wright’s stories about this special place will be something you will want to listen to again and again.
Special guests are featured on the shows, from national recording acts to regional artists, all of whom lent their vast talents to a production of the highest quality. Prizes were awarded to audience members for “visiting” with Tom on the show and a Grand Prize was be given away at each taping for some lucky audience member whose name was drawn.
We sure enjoyed putting these shows on and hope we can do more in the future. For now, click on the links to the left to download mp3 files of the best shows.
